A tape measure or measuring tape is a flexible form of ruler. It consists of a metal strip with linear-measurement markings. It is a common measuring tool. Its design allows for a measure of great length to be easily carried in pocket or toolkit and permits one to measure around curves or corners.

A calliper (American spelling also caliper) is a device used to measure the distance between two opposite sides of an object. The tips of the calliper are adjusted to fit across the points to be measured, the calliper is then removed and the distance read by measuring between the tips with a measuring tool, such as a ruler.

Electrical motors use ball bearings to fit the movable rotor into the motor casting.

It is important that transformer coils are completly dry. Therefore the coil drying oven is used.

To check the electrical insulation of a coil an insulation tester is used.

Electrical conductors are insulated to prevent electrical strokes.

A infrared thermometer is used for contactless  temperature measurement.


Vibration is a characteristic of all industrial machines. When vibration increases beyond normal levels, it may indicate only normal wear - or it may signal immediate maintenance action.
